By launching the Tata Punch EV, Tata Motors has revamped the electric vehicle market in India. The Punch EV is a born electric vehicle based on a brand new all-electric platform, the Acti.EV. This also makes the Punch EV the most affordable EV SUV in the market. The company has already stated that the Sierra EV, the Harrier EV and the Curvv EV will be based on this new modular EV architecture.
Here are five things about the Punch EV that you should keep in mind.
Tata Punch EV: New design language

Making it distinctively separate from its internal combustion engine avatar, the Punch EV sports a sleeker and space-age design language. Like the Nexon EV, the Punch EV also comes with an LED DRL that runs across below the bonnet lid. With a new vertical stacked split headlamp design with fog lamps that get cornering lights. The compact EV SUV comes with a new bumper with vertical air vents to keep the battery cool. The top-of-the-line variant boasts 16-inch alloy wheels. The Punch EV has a front charging port nestled inside the fascia. According to the company, they have opted for this design for better accessibility at a charging station.Â
Tata Punch EV: Plenty of luggage space

Regarding dimensions, there are slightly increased tweaks for the Punch EV over its petrol version. The former is 3,857mm in length, 1,742mm in width and 1,633 in height while the latter is 3,827mm in length, 1,742mm in width and 1,615mm in height. What hasn’t changed is the boot space which remains 366 litre, but the EV has an edge over it ICE sibling as it also gets an additional 14-litre frunk tucked inside the hood. The Punch EV also has an impressive ground clearance (unladen) of 190mm as the petrol one offers 187mm.
Tata Punch EV: Twin 10.25-inch displays

Tata Motors has upped the ante as the top variant, the Empowered, gets a dual 10.25-inch infotainment system by Harman and an instrument cluster. The former also comes with multiple voice assistants and wireless connectivity options like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The driver’s console is all-digital, offering three layout options with multiple information like the vehicle’s range. The top trim of the Punch continues to be equipped with a six-speaker music system including two tweeters.
Tata Punch EV: Cabin features

The Punch’s dashboard remains the same but in the case of the EV, it gets a new dual-tone light grey and dark grey combination. Tata Motors has also introduced a new centre console that is a combination of touch buttons and two toggle switches. Keeping an eye on comfort, it now comes with front ventilated seats, leatherette upholstery, Apart from this the Punch EV has features like a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, wireless phone charger and air purifier and AQI reader. The Punch also sports a brand new steering wheel with paddle shifters for multiple regen modes and a jewelled driving mode dial. For an additional Rs 50,000, opt for voice assist electric sunroof and ambient light.
Tata Punch EV: Safety

Safety is now synonymous with Tata Motors. Hence, the Punch EV gets six airbags as standard, hill decent control, hill hold control, all four disc brakes from long-range Punch EV, Electronic Stability Program and ISOFIX child seat mounts. It also comes with an electric park brake with auto hold and SOS calling function.
