Tata Curvv Dark Edition launched: Here’s what’s changed

The Dark Edition model of Tata Curvv EV will be launched at a later stage.

Tata Motors was the first passenger car manufacturer to offer an extensive range of Dark Edition SUVs with the Harrier, Safari, Nexon, and Punch along with electric vehicles versions of the latter two. The company’s Dark Edition lineup will expand further with the launch of the Curvv Dark Edition.

The homegrown has offically launched the Curvv Dark Edition at a starting price of Rs 16.49 lakh. This comes shortly after Curvv’s primary rival— Citroen Basalt— received its own derivative of Dark Edition earlier this week. The Curvv Dark Edition is based on the top two trims: Accomplished S and Accomplished +A.

Tata Curvv Dark Edition: Exterior Updates

As seen in other Dark Edition models, the highlight of the Curvv Dark Edition will mostly be around the cosmetic changes. For starters, the Curvv Dark Edition will be wrapped in an all-black colour scheme including blacked-out front grille, alloy wheels, and roof rials to go with tinted windscreen and smoked effect on headlamp and taillamp. Other familiar visual highlights include an LED light strip connecting the two headlamps, shark fin antenna, slanting roofline giving it the coupe-sque look that makes it stand out.

Another addition is the Dark Edition badge at the rear fender that distinguishes itself from the standard model. That said, the overall design of the car will remain identical.

Tata Curvv Dark Edition: Interior & Feature

While the overall layout of the cabin will stay as it is, the interiors of the Curvv Dark Edition will receive significant makeover as compared to the regular model. This includes an all-black theme cabin leatherette seat upholstery and door trims.

The Curvv Dark Edition packs all the goodies like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, a 10.25-inch driver’s display, a 9-speaker JBL sound system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats with 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, reclining rear seats, an air purifier, automatic climate control and a wireless phone charger.

Safety package will comprise six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic parking brake with auto hold, front and rear parking sensors, and a Level-2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite.

Tata Curvv Dark Edition: Powertrain specs

Tata Curvv Dark Edition will be offered with both petrol and diesel powertrain options including a 1.2-litre turbocharged Hyperion petrol motor and a 1.5-litre diesel motor. The former kicks out 123 bhp and 225 Nm of peak torque whereas the oil burner kicks out 116 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. Both power mills will be available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Besides the ICE version, the Curvv Dark Edition will also be available in a fully electric avatar at a later stage. The Curvv EV Dark Edition will be offered with two battery options: 45kWh and 55kWh battery packs, offering a range of up to 505 km to 585 km, respectively on a single charge. It is expected to be based on the top-spec Empowered+ trim.
