The Bharat New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) has announced the introduction of safety-rated QR code stickers for cars. The initiative aims to enhance awareness of vehicle safety. Customers can learn about a vehicle’s safety features by scanning the QR code on the sticker.

BNCAP QR code: What is it?

Bharat NCAP will send the QR code stickers to the automobile manufacturers whose vehicles have undergone crash testing as part of the safety program. These stickers will include the manufacturer’s name, the vehicle or model name, the testing date, and the safety star ratings for both adults and children. Scanning the sticker will reveal comprehensive details of the vehicle.

At present, the vehicles that have completed crash tests and are from Tata Motors include the Tata Safari, Harrier, Nexon EV, and Punch EV. These models have been awarded 5-star ratings by Bharat NCAP for both adult and child occupant safety.

About Bharat NCAP

Last year, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, in collaboration with Global NCAP, introduced the Bharat NCAP safety ratings. With this crash-testing policy, India became the fifth nation globally to adopt such a safety system. During the Bharat NCAP announcement, the Road Transport Union Minister mentioned that they had already received over 30 requests for crash tests under this voluntary safety scheme.

The slogan “More Stars, Safer Cars” encapsulates Bharat NCAP’s mission to enhance safety awareness for all new vehicles and to decrease accident rates. The organization also holds the conviction that this initiative will empower car buyers to make better-informed choices by understanding the safety features of the vehicles.
