Why is Mumbai submerged? City underwater after receiving 200mm of rain in 24 hours
Heavy rains in Mumbai have caused waterlogging and disrupted daily life. The Indian Meteorological Department issued a red alert for several districts in Maharashtra. Flooded houses and submerged roads have made the situation grim. The BMC has deployed rescue workers, but waist-deep water and high tides have kept the city on high alert. The spell of rain has brought over 1000mm of rainfall so far.
