Direct benefit transfers down 6% to Rs 6.6 lakh crore in FY26
The DBT mechanism in FY26 saw a 5% decrease in subsidies and welfare benefits, with a focus on housing and agriculture. Fertilizer subsidies increased, while LPG subsidies and social assistance programs decreased. DBT has saved Rs 4.31 lakh crore since FY15, allowing for better spending and more benefits for eligible beneficiaries.
