“When growth slows down, and the US Fed cuts interest rates, investors globally want to move to safer havens like Gold. We believe this trend may not change. However, another factor driving gold prices up is the buying by central banks across the globe. While it’s important to focus on US Fed rate cuts, it may not be the only factor driving gold prices,” said Himani Shah, Co-Fund manager, Alchemy Capital Management.
Gold and Treasuries are both seen as safe investments, which means their prices tend to move together. When bond yields are high, investors might sell gold to buy bonds since gold doesn’t generate any yield. Conversely, when bond yields are low, investors may buy gold instead of bonds.
