- Tata Nexon
Tata Nexon continued to remain the best-selling sub-4 metre SUV in India. The homegrown carmaker sold 16,887 units of the crossover, inclusive of its all-electric derivative. This resulted in a YoY growth of 22.66%. The recent surge in sales can be attributed to the major update to the Nexon lineup earlier in September this year. The Nexon range has got an all-new design and plenty of new features to make it a more attractive offering.
- Maruti Suzuki Brezza
Maruti Suzuki Brezza has always been a strong seller in the subcompact SUV space ever since it was first launched in 2016. Through its lifespan, it received two major updates– one in 2020 and the other 2022. Last month, the Indo-Japanese carmaker sold 16,050 units of Brezza which resulted in a significant YoY growth of 61.45%.
- Tata Punch
Tata Motors launched Punch in 2021 which sits below Nexon in the lineup. It created a new segment of micro SUVs within the sub-4 metre SUV space. Tata Motors sold 15,317 units of Punch in October which translated to almost 40% YoY growth.
Hyundai Venue continues to be a strong seller in the subcompact SUV space ever since it made its debut in 2019. The SUV got a mid-cycle facelift last year which involved a restyled exterior along with a few creature comforts. The Korean carmaker sold 11,581 units of Venue last year which resulted in a YoY growth of over 20%.
- Maruti Suzuki Fronx
Based on Baleno, Maruti Suzuki launched its second SUV/crossover in the sub-4 metre space earlier in March this year. A total of 11,587 units of the coupe-crossover were dispatched across the country last month.
- Mahindra Bolero
Mahindra Bolero is the only ladder-on-frame SUV in this list. Launched more than two decades ago, Bolero has remained practically unchanged. The rugged utility vehicle recorded a sales volume of 9,647 units which translates to a YoY growth of almost 10%. Bolero is considered a workhorse with the majority of buyers from Tier 2, Tier 3 centres and beyond.
- Hyundai Exter
Hyundai launched the Exter in July this year which garnered favourable response from the industry and consumers alike. The micro crossover is a direct rival to Tata Punch and recorded a total sales volume of 8,097 units in October.
