August 2024 has been an exciting month with many two and four-wheeler launches. The month has seen some totally new cars such as the Tata Curvv and Citroen Basalt, while also seeing Mahindra finally launch the much-awaited Thar Roxx. Here are top 5 new SUVs and car launches of August 2024.
Mahindra Thar Roxx

We start with the Thar Roxx, an SUV that has been spied testing for several months before it was finally launched on August 15. The Mahindra Thar Roxx is more than a stretched version of the three-door Thar and is a much more premium offering. The Thar Roxx is available in petrol and diesel engine choices in two states of tune, while there are also 4WD versions. The Thar Roxx is priced at Rs Rs 12.99 lakh onwards, ex-showroom.
Tata Curvv

The next big launch was the Tata Curvv, a mid-size SUV with a sportback, based on a concept Tata showcased earlier. The Tata Curvv competes in a highly competitive segment that is lead by the Hyundai Creta. However, Tata has a trick up its sleeve and unlike the Creta which only gets ICE choices, the Curvv is available in petrol, diesel, and all-electric versions. The Tata Curvv EV is priced at Rs 17.49 lakh onwards, ex-showroom.
Citroen Basalt

It was surely a month of sportbacks, as the Citroen Basalt was also launched in August 2024, priced at Rs 7.99 lakh onwards, ex-showroom. The Citroen Basalt is based on the C3 and features a sportback styling while being powered by a naturally aspirated petrol engine or with a turbocharged petrol mill. The latter gets an optional automatic gearbox.
Citroen C3

Soon after launching the Basalt, the French carmaker launched the updated C3, priced at Rs 6.16 lakh onwards. The new C3 gets added features and gets the much-wanted automatic gearbox with its turbocharged petrol engine. The Citroen C3 competes against the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Tata Punch, and Hyundai Exter amongst others.
Nissan X-Trail

And the final pick of ours, the Nissan X-Trail. This large SUV is priced at Rs 49.92 lakh ex-showroom and competes with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and the Skoda Kodiaq. The return of the X-Trail name after a decade has enthusiasts excited, but it brought along some disappointments as well, such as it being available in a single variant, sold as a CBU only, and its 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine.
