The month of March was business as usual for carmakers. A total of 3.7 lakh passenger cars were sold in the Indian market in March 2024. This led to a 10% YoY growth and a marginal 0.8% MoM drop in sales. March was also the last month of FY 2023-24 which accounted for a total sales of 42.16 lakh dispatches.

Top 10 best-selling cars March 2024: Punch takes the crown
Tata Punch was the best-selling car in March 2024, with 17,547 units dispatched last month. This resulted in a 61% YoY growth. It should be noted that Tata Motors offers ICE as well fully-electric versions of Punch and the monthly volume accounts for both the versions. Punch was followed by Hyundai Creta in the second spot with a monthly volume of 16,458 units in March 2024.
The compact SUV recorded a 17% YoY growth which received a major facelift earlier in January this year. Creta was closely trailed by Maruti WagonR at the third spot with a volume of 16,368 units. The tallboy hatch recorded a YoY decline of 5%.
Top 10 best-selling cars March 2024: Scorpio registers highest growth
Mahindra Scorpio found itself placed in the seventh place of highest-selling cars in March this year. The mid-size SUV registered a volume of 15,151 units last month as opposed to 8,788 units during the same month last year. This led to a 72% YoY growth. Even Maruti Ertiga registered a volume of 14,888 last month which translated to a YoY growth of 65%.
