The Tata Sierra name is back, an iconic name that showed SUVs can be cool. With the second coming, Tata will offer the SUV with a petrol engine, a diesel mill, and an all-electric powertrain. That said, the Sierra ICE and EV will have their own differences owing to the nature of the powertrains and we take a closer look at how they differ.

Tata Sierra vs Sierra EV — Exterior design

The exterior design of the Sierra and Sierra EV have major differences, although they retain the overall silhouette. The Sierra EV sports a cleaner design compared to the ICE version, primarily owing to the lack of a front grille. The Sierra ICE gets air vents, which are needed to cool the engine, while also featuring a textured grille. The other big difference between the two is the alloy wheel design.

That said, both vehicles feature a full-length LED DRL, a rear spoiler, flush door handles, full-length tail lamps, and faux skid plates. The Sierra was always known for its wrap-around rear window, however, this design is not carried forward and Tata has used a cleaver technique to black out the area above the glass, giving it a similar look.

Tata Sierra vs Sierra EV — Interior and features

Tata has not officially revealed the interior of the Sierra. When it was showcased in 2023, the interior had two TFT screens, one for the infotainment system and the other for the digital instrument display. However, the vehicle showcased this year at the Bharat Mobility show sported a three-screen setup and looked more production-ready than what was showcased in 2023.

The interior will have small changes and accents to keep the EV feeling alive, and both vehicles will feature a host of creature comforts such as smartphone connectivity, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, multiple airbags, ISOFIX seat anchors, and ADAS. More details about the interior will be revealed soon.

Tata Sierra vs Sierra EV — Engine specifications

This will be the major difference, as the Sierra will be available with three options. The first will be a 2.0-litre diesel engine seen on the Harrier and Safari, while the second option could be a new petrol engine that was seen on test in the Safari. It could be a 1.5-litre unit similar to the Curvv, perhaps in the same tune.

The battery specifications have not been revealed yet and one can expect a similar setup to the Curvv EV. While all these are still speculations, more details will be revealed closer to the launch date, later this year.
