Tata Motors is gearing up to launch its next big product— the Harrier EV in the coming weeks. At the same time, the homegrown carmaker is working on the Sierra which hopefully will be launched sometime later this year. A near-production model of the Sierra made its debut at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025.
Test mules of the Sierra have already been spotted on multiple occasions recently. Recently, Tata Motors filed a design patent for the final production model of Sierra. A test prototype of the SUV has been caught on camera yet again, this time unravelling new details. Like previous occasions, the latest test mule of Sierra is seen wrapped underneath a camouflage.
Tata Sierra: Expected Design
The design of the Sierra is expected to stay the same as the prototype that made its debut at the Expo earlier this year. Up front, a high-mounted bonnet with a split headlamp design, including LED DRLs sitting, while the primary headlamp units are positioned on the bumper. The latest spy images revealed air intake channels on the front bumper. Additionally, an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) sensor was spotted on the windshield.

The profile remains boxy as ever, a boxy profile with tall pillars, and a flat roofline. As revealed previously, unlike the original Sierra of the 1990s which came with a 3-door setup, this one will get a more 5-door configuration. The alloy wheels seen in the latest spy shots are different from the ones used on the prototype displayed at the Auto Expo.
At the rear, the taillights are partially visible which appear to be connected via an LED light strip. Other visual highlights which are not visible in the latest spy shots include a faux silver-coloured skid plate that gives a bull bar-like effect, vertically-stacked compact fog lamps, “Sierra” lettering in bold at the nose, flush-fitting door handles, squared wheel arches, and thick body claddings on the side.
Tata Sierra: Expected Interiors & Safety
We expect Tata Sierra to come with the same interior setup as seen in the Nexon, Curvy, and Harrier. This means highlights such as a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a panoramic sunroof. As for safety, the Sierra will come equipped with a 360-degree camera and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System.
Tata Sierra: Expected Powertrain
The Tata Sierra will be offered in both ICE and EV variants. The ICE version will come with petrol and diesel engine options, including a brand-new 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine delivering 168 bhp and 280 Nm of torque, along with a familiar 2.0-liter Kryotec diesel engine—also found in the Harrier and Safari—producing 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices are expected to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Specifications for the Sierra EV have yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to share its powertrain with the upcoming Harrier EV. The Sierra EV is likely to offer a maximum range of around 500 km on a single charge.
