Tata Motors has unveiled the near-production version of the highly anticipated Sierra internal combustion engine (ICE) model. Staying true to its diverse lineup, the Sierra will be offered in petrol, diesel, and all-electric variants. Interestingly, Tata has confirmed that the Sierra EV is slated to debut in the latter half of 2025, ahead of its ICE counterpart. Here’s a closer look at everything we know so far about the all-new Sierra.
Tata Sierra: Powertrains

The Sierra is set to compete with segment heavyweights like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. To lock horns with them, Tata Motors is expected to debut its new 1.5-litre turbo petrol GDI engine with the Sierra. This engine, which delivers 168 bhp and 280 Nm of torque, was first showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo alongside the 1.2-litre turbo GDI currently available in the Curvv.
Additionally, Tata will equip the Sierra with the 2-litre diesel engine shared with the Harrier and Safari, generating 168 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. Buyers can expect both manual and automatic transmission options, with the possibility of an all-wheel-drive variant also in the pipeline.
Tata Sierra: Design

Tata Motors has successfully reimagined the classic Sierra, giving it a fresh, modern feel while maintaining its retro soul. The decision to forgo the massive rear glass of the original is attributed to contemporary safety standards, prioritizing occupant protection. The new Sierra’s front is assertive, boasting a wide stance, sleek LED DRLs positioned under the bonnet, a striking all-black glossy grille, and distinctive vertically-stacked LED headlights sitting above the bumper, accented by a robust metal skid plate. The side profile proudly displays the Sierra’s heritage with its no-nonsense boxy design and a stylish dual-tone floating roof, further enhanced by a set of eye-catching alloy wheels. The rear is cleanly executed, featuring an elegant connected LED tail light and the ‘Sierra’ nameplate below the Tata Motors badge.
 Tata Sierra: Interiors

The Sierra’s interior boasts a modern, uncluttered design centred around three digital displays and a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata badge. It’s expected to be packed with features including dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, a wireless-connected infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, power-adjustable and ventilated front seats, and more. Safety features are anticipated to include Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera system.
