Tata Motors launched the Punch EV a few days back, making it the fourth fully-electric model after Tiago EV, Tigor EV and Nexon EV. The all-electric Punch has only one direct rival in the market as of now in the form of Citroen eC3. Both subcompact electric SUVs closely match each other in terms of dimensions. That said, the eC3 is significantly longer than the Punch EV. As a result, the former offers a larger wheelbase at 2,540mm. Punch EV, on the other hand, offers a higher ground clearance and a larger boot. It is also taller than the all-electric crossover from the French carmaker.

When it comes to features, Punch EV easily takes the cake. Both models come equipped with a similarly-sized touchscreen infotainment system, multiple drive modes, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. However, features offered by the all-electric Punch include LED headlights with integrated DRLs, automatic climate control, keyless entry with push button start/stop, paddle shifters for battery regen, optional electric sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless phone charger, air purifier, and more which are missing in eC3.

The Punch.EV also holds the upper hand when it comes to safety which comes with features like six airbags, electronic parking brake with safety control, all four disc brakes, electronic safety control, blind spot view monitor, and cruise control.
Tata Punch EV Vs Citroen eC3: Powertrain specs
Tata Punch EV is clearly the better option when it comes to powertrain, offering better performance as well range. Moreover, Tata offers two battery options with Punch EV— 25kWh and 35kWh with a respective single-charge range of 315 km and 421 km. On the other hand, the French carmaker offers a 29.2kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 320 km on a single charge.

The eC3 is also down in output with the motor delivering 56 bhp and 143 Nm of peak torque, thus, offering a top speed of 107 kmph, a 0-60 kmph acceleration run time of 6.8 seconds. On the other hand, even the lower-specced MR variant of Punch EV offers a higher output and top speed of 110 kmph. The standard Punch EV makes 80 bhp and 114 Nm of torque, while the Long Range version makes 120 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. Tata also claims a 0 to 100kmph acceleration in 9.5 seconds.

Tata Punch is clearly the better EV on paper since it gets better and more features, and a more sophisticated powertrain with better performance and more range. Further, the Punch EV is more competitively priced than its French counterpart, making it the better product overall.
