Tata Motors officially took the covers off from the upcoming Punch EV yesterday. The all-electric derivative of the micro SUV is based on an all-new EV-specific architecture called acti.ev which stands for Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle, underpinning many new fully-electric models in the near future.
Pre-bookings for the all-electric micro SUV have begun at a token amount of Rs 21,000. Prices for the same are expedited to be announced sometime later. Ahead of its market launch, let us look at all the major highlights from Punch EV.
Tata Punch EV: Exterior Styling
The battery-powered Tata Punch receives some very significant cosmetic updates. For starters, the front fascia has been completely redesigned with a sealed-off nose flanked headlined by a slim connected LED DRL strip. The front bumper has been heavily reprofiled housing vertical strakes, a silver faux skid plate, and revised triangular headlamp clusters on either side.

Overall, the face of Punch EV resonates with the Curvv concept revealed in 2022, which was also a source of design inspiration for the facelifted Nexon and Nexon EV.Another unique touch is the Tata logo at the centre serving as the charging port inlet. Also, there is nice storage space under the bonnet, useful to store the charging cables and adapters.
The side profile and silhouette visibly remain unchanged. At the rear as well, the layout is fairly similar to its ICE sibling featuring the same wraparound tail lamps with Y-shaped LED elements, and a sculpted tailgate. The only difference being the addition of a faux silver-coloured skid plate at the rear bumper.
Tata Punch EV: Interiors & features
From snippets released by Tata Motors, it is assumed that cabin interiors of the all-electric Punch would not deviate too much from its fossil fueled sibling. Some of the changes will include redesigned air con vents, a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and Tata’s new two-spoke, illuminated steering wheel.

Lower variants, however, will continue with a smaller 7-inch touchscreen unit and a semi-digital instrument console as the regular Punch. Other notable features offered in Punch EV include 360-degree surround view camera, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charger, Harman audio system, LED fog lamps with cornering function, air purifier, electric sunroof, and connected car tech via Arcade.ev App suite to name a few.
Safety of occupants is taken care of by six airbags, ABS, and electronic stability control (ESC) as standard along with blind view monitor, three-point seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX mounts, electronic parking brake with auto hold, SOS function, and ISOFIX mounts.
Tata Punch EV: Powertrain specs
Tata Motors is yet to officially confirm the powertrain specs of the upcoming Punch EV, but it is already known that it will be offered with two battery options— standard and Long Range. Since it is based on the acti.ev architecture that promises range between 300 km to 600 km, it is safe to assume that standard range will offer a peak range of 300 km on a single charge. As for the motor, the Punch EV is expected to come in a single, front-wheel driven layout.

The standard range version will be offered with only a 3.3kW AC charger, while the Long Range version will additionally benefit from a 7.2kW AC charger. It can also support DC fast charging up to 150kW.
Tata Punch EV: Variants & colour options
Tata is offering the Punch EV in five trims namely Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered and Empowered+. The Long Range version will only be offered in the top three trims. Both versions of the subcompact electric SUV can be had with five dual-tone colour schemes including Empowered Oxide, Seaweed, Fearless Red, Daytona Grey, and Pristine White, all available with a black roof and pillars.
