Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Curvv next week on August 7. To be available in both fully-electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) derivatives, the homegrown carmaker will most likely launch only the former in August while the fossil-fueled version of the coupe SUV will be launched sometime later.

We can now confirm that Tata Motors will launch the petrol and diesel versions of Curvv in September this year. The company has sent us a block-your-date invite for mid-September which doesn’t mention the exact model but it can be deduced that the model in question is the Curvv ICE.

Tata Curvv ICE: Design

The Curvv ICE is expected to mirror its battery-powered counterpart in terms of design, showcasing a unique and sporty aesthetic that sets it apart from other Tata models. The teasers, concepts, and test mules spotted so far reveal a distinctive coupe-like silhouette, characterised by a sharply sloping roofline.

The front fascia exudes confidence, featuring a sleek black grille and front bumper inspired by the Harrier. Slim LED daytime running lights (DRLs) add a touch of sophistication, potentially accompanied by sequential indicators for an extra dynamic flair. Additional design elements may include LED fog lamps, stylish five-spoke petal-design alloy wheels, and connected LED tail lamps that create a seamless visual flow. A roof-mounted spoiler completes the Curvv’s sporty appearance, hinting at its dynamic capabilities.

Tata Curvv ICE: Interiors & Features

The Curvv is set to impress with a range of innovative features, including a class-leading 12.3-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument console, and wireless smartphone charging. Additionally, it will offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, and connected car technology via iRA. The two-spoke steering wheel will feature touch-based controls, enhancing the overall driving experience.

Another significant feature addition will be gesture-controlled electronic tailgate which will be a first in its segment. Other anticipated features include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, 360-degree camera, premium music system, and paddle shifters (exclusive to automatic variants).

Furthermore, the Curvv will boast Level 2 ADAS, comprising advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, collision warnings, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, and more, ensuring a secure and convenient driving experience.

Tata Curvv ICE: Powertrain options

The biggest highlight of the Curvv ICE will be the new 1.2-litre Hyperion turbo petrol engine from Tata Motors. This 1198cc 3-cylinder petrol mill will make its debut in the Curvv ICE and it is expected to churn out 23 bhp at 5000 rpm and a peak torque 225 Nm at 1700-3500 rpm. This is a lightweight engine made of aluminium with a water-cooled variable geometry which is supposed to offer responsive low-end torque. According to Tata Motors, the engine is designed to be quiet and more refined than the Revotron motor.

Besides the 1.2-litre Hyperion, the Curvv will also offer the 1.2-litre turbo petrol Revotron unit and the 1.5-litre diesel unit, both borrowed from the Nexon ICE. The former kicks out 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque whereas the latter kicks out 114 bhp and 260 Nm. Transmission options in the Curvv ICE range are expected to include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed AMT, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
