Tata Motors will soon be entering the packed mid-size SUV segment with the Curvv. The Indian automobile manufacturer has already confirmed that the electric vehicle version will be first launched on August 7th and later the internal combustion engine model. We answer the following most asked questions about the Curvv.
Tata Curvv: Is there a diesel engine option?
Tata Motors has confirmed that the all-new Coupe SUV will get a diesel powertrain. It is will borrow the Nexon’s tried-and-tested 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine with an output of 113 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. It will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT.Â
Tata Curvv: Will the SUV get the new turbo petrol engine?
Tata Motors showcased two new turbo petrol powertrains in the 2022 Auto Expo and the 1.2-litre version makes its global debut with the Curvv. Based on the specifications shared by the Indian automotive company, it will have an output of 123 bhp and 225 Nm of torque. It will borrow two transmissions from the Nexon, the 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Tata Curvv: Who is the competition?
The Curvv will be slotted in between the subcompact SUV, the Nexon, and the full-size SUV, the Harrier. It will go up against the segment leader, the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, MG Astor and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.Â
Tata Curvv: What features to expect?
The Curvv will borrow a bucket load of features like the massive 12.3-inch infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay from the Harrier and the Safari. It will also get a panoramic sunroof, front ventilated seats, wireless phone charger, a premium music system, navigation display on the 10.25-inch driver’s digital console and touch buttons on the centre console including climate control. It will be the first SUV in this segment to offer an electrically powered tailgate along with gesture controls.Â
Tata Curvv: Will it get ADAS?
Like any Tata Motors vehicle safety is paramount and the top variant of the Curvv will feature a Level 2 ADAS suite. This will include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, front and rear collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot detection and much more. It will also come with electronic stability, six airbags as standard, a tyre pressure monitoring system etc.
