Tata Altroz is one of the few surviving premium hatchbacks in the Indian car market. The small car segment has shrunk significantly over the last 5-6 years due to various factors. First launched in early 2020, the Altroz hasn’t received any major update till date apart from the Altroz Racer launched last year.

A facelift of the premium hatchback has been on the cards for a long time and now a test mule of the same has spotted testing for the first time. The fully camouflaged prototype of the Altroz has reportedly been spotted parked at a Tata manufacturing plant. The new Tata Altroz is likley to hit the roads around the festive season this year.

Tata Altroz facelift: Updated Design

The latest spy images suggest a major overhaul in exterior styling as compared to the existing model. The facelifted Altroz is slated to receive a redesigned front fascia featuring a new grille flanked by a fresh set of twin-LED headlamps. The updated face now looks in sync with the rest of the Tata lineup like Nexon, Curvy, Harrier, and Safari that have adopted the carmaker’s latest design philosophy. The revised headlamp cluster also houses a new set of LED DRLs that are sleeker.

The homegrown carmaker has also tweaked the front and the rear bumpers for better aerodynamics we suppose. Further, the fog lamp clusters have also been repositioned in the front bumper. Another noticeable change are the new alloy wheels although the silhouette remains unchanged. At the rear, the wraparound design of the current taillamps may give way to something simpler.

Tata Altroz facelift: Expected features

We don’t expect any major changes inside the cabin of the updated Altroz barring minor changes like a new illuminated Tata logo on a new two-spoke steering wheel and a new touch and toggle panel for climate control. In its latest iteration, the hatchback may receive some additional features. This includes a new 10.2-inch instrument screen, ventilated front seats, powered drivers’ seat, an auto-dimming IRVM, upgraded telematics suite, and ambient lighting to name a few.

Features like a free-standing 10.2-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and an electric sunroof are expected to be carried over from the existing model. Safety will be taken care of by 6 airbags as standard, and possibly Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).

Tata Altroz facelift: Expected Powertrain

Tata Motors is expected to offer the updated Altroz with the same powertrain options as the current model. These include 1.2-litre petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual, and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. The more potent Altroz Racer comes with a more powerful 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
