After multiple teasers and spy shots, Maruti Suzuki will launch the new generation model of Swift in India today. The fourth-gen Swift made its debut at the Japan Mobilty Show in Tokyo last year in October. Earlier in March this year, it made its way to the United Kingdom market. That said, the India-spec model will be slightly different from its Japanese and English siblings.

As of now, Maruti Suzuki Swift has only 1 direct rivals in the form of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. The latter is priced between Rs 5.92 – 8.56 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Maruti Swift will be offered in five trims: LXi, VXi, VXi(O), ZXi, and ZXi(O). AMT option available from VXi trim onwards.

Parent company, Suzuki, has sold 6.5 million units of Swift globally since its inception. Around 46% of this number has been sold in India, around 3 million units since 2005.
The new1.2L Z-series engine is expected to come with a mild hybrid setup that should offer better fuel-efficiency. In addition, it should be equipped with an engine start/stop system as standard.

The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift will be offered with a petrol engine only. The engine will be a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z-Series engine replacing the older 1.20litre 4-cylinder K-Series unit. The engine is expected to make 81 bhp and 112 Nm of torque.
Other features the new Swift gets include a 360-degree camera, 6-speaker Arkamys audio system, reverse camera, cruise control, automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls, and more.
In terms of features, the 2024 Swift is expected to get updates as well. One of the biggest will be a free-standing infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, navigation, and connected car tech.
The interior of the new 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift borrows a lot of elements from the current-gen model, like the steering wheel, and metre console. The interior is likely to get a dual-tone finish with slight tweaks to its dash.
Dimensions of the fourth-gen Swift will be slightly different. It measures 3,860 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height. As a result, it is 15 mm longer, 30 mm taller, and 40 mm narrower than the outgoing model. However, the wheelbase remains identical to the outgoing model.
While the new Maruti Suzuki Swift gets subtle changes, its overall silhouette remains unchanged. One more notable, but a minor design change are the rear door handles, which are now on the door and no more hidden in the pillar.
