Fertiliser subsidy may overshoot BE as DAP costs spiral
The government's fertiliser subsidy bill for FY26 is expected to increase due to a 23% rise in global DAP prices. The country imports two-thirds of its annual consumption of 10 MT DAP, and the spike in prices is a result of global supply challenges, rising demand, and import drop. However, the MRP of DAP remains unchanged, and a long-term agreement has been reached with Saudi Arabia.
