Two Boeing 787 models flagged for faulty fittings by FAA; substandard titanium used
The FAA has raised safety concerns about Boeing 787 aircraft due to the use of substandard titanium in the manufacturing of Ram Air Turbine (RAT) forward fittings. Operators of 787-9 and 787-10 models will have to follow a new airworthiness directive, as the substandard titanium could lead to failure of the deployment of the RAT.
