MP CM to unveil 108 feet tall statue of Adi Shankaracharya in Omkareshwar

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, will dedicate a statue of Adi Shankaracharya that stands 108 feet tall on September 18 in Omkareshwar, which is home to one of the 12 Jyotirlings devoted to Lord Shiva. The imposing building honoring the important and beloved Hindu scholar from the eighth century has been given the name “Ekatmata Ki Pratima ” (statue of oneness).

India central bank issues revised guidelines for banks’ investments

The revised classification, valuation, and operating standards for commercial banks’ investment portfolios were released by the Reserve Bank of India on Tuesday and will take effect on April 1st, 2024. From the start of the following fiscal year, banks must divide their investments into three categories: available for sale (AFS), held to maturity (HTM), and a brand-new category dubbed “fair value through profit and loss,” or FVTPL.

AP court rejects Chandrababu Naidu’s plea seeking house custody

N Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the TDP, was detained in connection with an alleged multi-million dollar scam and has been held in judicial custody in Rajamahendravaram Central Prison for the past 14 days. On Tuesday, he requested home custody, but a local court in Vijayawada denied his request. According to Jayakar Matta, Naidu’s attorney, house custody was not awarded.

Libya flood latest update

Around 10,000 people are thought to be missing following major floods in Libya, an official from the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) said on Tuesday. “We can confirm from our independent sources of information that the number of missing people is hitting 10,000 so far,” Tamer Ramadan, the head of the IFRC delegation in Libya, told reporters in Geneva via video link from Tunisia. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said that the State government is viewing the two ‘unnatural deaths’ reported from Kozhikode very seriously and that the health department has issued an alert in the district. The chief minister has advised people to exercise caution and said there was no reason to worry as those who were in close contact with the deceased were under treatment.

UP CM takes cognizance of cattle deaths due to lightning in Unnao, instructs for financial assistance

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the loss of animal life due to lightning in Unnao district and has given instructions to pay assistance amount to the concerned cattle herders as per the rules. According to the report of Unnao district administration, 127 Sheep have died due to lightning in Hasanganj tehsil. While a mulching buffalo of another cattle rearer has also died due to lightning.

Gadkari’s new proposal at SIAM convention

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday proposed additional GST on diesel vehicles. Addressing the SIAM convention, Gadkari said that he has requested Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to impose 10 per cent additional GST on diesel vehicles/engines. He said that this additional duty would be the ‘pollution tax’.

To seek investment in state, West Bengal CM to visit Spain and Dubai
