Republic Day 2024 Parade Highlights: “Aavaahan” took center stage at Kartavya Path on Friday as India marked its 75th Republic Day. Dignitaries including French President Macron, the chief guest, President Murmu, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi witnessed the event, which featured tableaux representing states, Union Territories, and various ministries. The parade’s twin themes, ‘Visit Bharat’ (developed India) and ‘Bharat — Loktantra Ki Matruka’ (India — the mother of democracy), were showcased. Prominent entries included tableaux of Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir and ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft, along with a march past celebrating ‘nari shakti.’ Additionally, four Mi-17 IV helicopters from the 105 Helicopter Unit showered flower petals on the audience at Kartavya Path. The Republic Day Parade started at 10:30 AM from Vijay Chowk to Kartavya Path.
On the occassion, the national capital was under an extensive security deployment on the occasion, with more than 70,000 personnel deployed across the city. Among them, 14,000 personnel were stationed at and around Kartavya Path to ensure the security of the Republic Day parade.

Leading the Mechanised Column, the initial Army contingent comprises the 61 Cavalry, under the command of Major Yashdeep Ahlawat. Established in 1953, the 61 Cavalry holds the distinction of being the sole active Horsed Cavalry Regiment globally, resulting from the amalgamation of various ‘State Horsed Cavalry Units.’

Republic Day 2024 parade at Kartavya Path begins with ‘Aavahan’. In a historic moment, the parade is inaugurated by a group of more than 100 female musicians showcasing their skills in playing traditional Indian musical instruments. The procession begins with the resonating sounds of Sankh, Naadswaram, Nagada, and other instruments skillfully performed by these talented artists.
Following a 21-gun salute, President Murmu unfurled national flag with the national anthem being sung in the background. And with that, the parade begins.
