Participating in the Republic Day 2024 parade, the Army’s Mechanised Columns showcase their prowess. Leading the detachment of Tank T-90 Bhishma at Kartavya Path is Lieutenant Fayaz Singh Dhillon of the 42 Armoured Regiment.

The musical ensemble of the French Foreign Legion, featuring 30 musicians, along with the marching unit from the 2nd Infantry Regiment of the French Foreign Legion, parades on Karvatya Path on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day. Above them, two Rafale fighter jets soar on Kartavya Path.

Leading the Mechanised Column, the initial Army contingent comprises the 61 Cavalry, under the command of Major Yashdeep Ahlawat. Established in 1953, the 61 Cavalry holds the distinction of being the sole active Horsed Cavalry Regiment globally, resulting from the amalgamation of various ‘State Horsed Cavalry Units.’

Republic Day 2024 parade at Kartavya Path begins with ‘Aavahan’. In a historic moment, the parade is inaugurated by a group of more than 100 female musicians showcasing their skills in playing traditional Indian musical instruments. The procession begins with the resonating sounds of Sankh, Naadswaram, Nagada, and other instruments skillfully performed by these talented artists.

Following a 21-gun salute, President Murmu unfurled national flag with the national anthem being sung in the background. And with that, the parade begins.
