On the outside, the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway resembles the earlier generation Mahindra Scorpio. It has a flat bed instead of a third row which has a payload capacity of 600 kg. Higher versions of the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway also come with alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. The Scorpio Getaway also has decals on each side.
Inside the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway, it has a two tone dashboard with fire retardant upholstery for the seats. In addition, wooden inserts on the dashboard add to a premium appeal. All variants of the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway have space for bottle holders and cups in the centre console and the front doors. The higher variants also get an company fitted aftermarket audio system with four door speakers.
The Mahindra Scorpio Getaway is powered by two diesel engine options, a 2.2 litre mHawk unit and a 2.6 litre NEF CRDe motor. The 2,179 cc engine generates 119 hp of power at 4,000 rpm and 280 Nm of torque from 1,800 rpm to 2,800 rpm. This engine is BS4 compliant and can sell in all locations. The other unit is a BS3 compliant and sells only in BS3 compliant cities like select Tier 2 cities. The 2,609 cc CRDe engine produces 108 hp of power at 3,800 rpm and 270 Nm of torque from 1,700 rpm to 2,200 rpm. Both engine have ample power to move the pick up truck with ease.
Both engines of the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway come with a 5 speed manual gearbox and there is no option of an automatic transmission. That said, the higher variants also have an all wheel drive BorgWarner system, which is an electric shift setup.
In terms of safety, the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway has a collapsible steering column, rigid body structure and crumple zones. That said, the pick up truck does not have technological safety features like ABS (Anti lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), airbags or traction control.
The Mahindra Scorpio Getaway has a claimed fuel efficiency of 13. 5 kmpl. Considering the minimum gross vehicle weight of 2,510 kg for the BS4 compliant version, this fuel efficiency figure is satisfactory,
