Up-front, the new BMW 7 Series comes with the German car manufacturers new grille design. Other changes, from the previous iteration include aesthetic updates all across the car's exterior.
The BMW 7 Series uses the iconic kidney shaped engine grille with horizontal slats. The BMW 7 Series is offered with the company’s Laser light with LED high and low beam module which is coupled with LED cornering lights. The luxury sedan also features 18-20 inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) with embedded LED indicators. It also features the keyless entry as well as remote boot opening function.
The BMW 7 Series comes with active seat ventilation in the front and the rear seats. In addition to this, it also comes with ambient air package and ambient interior lighting along with mood lights. The 7 Series comes with automatic air-conditioning with 4-zone control. Furthermore, this luxury sedan comes with front and rear central armrest with storage compartments. The BMW 7 Series comes with lumbar support for the front seats along with massage function for the driver and rear seat backrest with eight massage programs. Also included in the expansive feature list of the luxury sedan are seat heating for the front and rear, electric steering adjustment among others.
The BMW 7 Series comes one diesel engine and three petrol engine options. The diesel engine line-up consists of a in-line 6-cylinder, 2.993 cc oil-burner capable of churning out 265 hp of power at 4,000 rpm along with 620 Nm of peak torque in-between 2,000-2,500 rpm. The petrol engine line-up consist of in-line 6-cylinder, 2,998 cc engine available in the 740 Li. This engine is generated peak power of 340 hp in-between 5500-6500 rpm along with peak torque of 450 Nm in-between 1500-5200 rpm. The M760Li xDrive comes with a 6.592 cc, twin-turbocharged V12 engine generating peak power output of 609 hp in-between 5,400 to 6,500 rpm along with 850 Nm of peak torque in-between 1,550-5,000 rpm. The 745Le xDrive comes with 2.998 cc engine mated to an electric motor with a combined power output of 384 hp along with 600 Nm of peak torque.
All engines of the BMW 7 Series are equipped with an 8 speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. The transmission offers smooth gear changes and feature well-tuned ratios that offers a good balance between fuel efficiency and performance.
The BMW 7 Series is offered with DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), CBC (Corner Braking Control), ABS (Anti lock Braking System) with brake assist, six-airbags, electronic vehicle immobiliser and active front seat headrests. It also comes with side-impact protection with runflat tyres with reinforced side walls.
The BMW 7 Series petrol variants come with a certified mileage of 12.05 kmpl whereas the diesel variants come with a 16.77 kmpl. These figures are acceptable for its segment.
