Cars and automakers have come a long way and reliability has been given significant importance over the years. Some brands have become synonymous with reliability such as Honda and Toyota. However, there are companies out there that still make troublesome cars. According to a study by Consumer Reports, here are the top five most reliable car brands in the world.
Top five most-reliable car brands in the world
The answer might be surprising — the most reliable car brand in the world is Subaru. Yes. The Subaru Forester, Impreza, Crosstrek, Legacy, and Outback are some of the most reliable models made by the Japanese carmaker that top the charts. Subaru is followed by Lexus in second, Toyota’s luxury brand. For Lexus, the NX, NX Hybrid, ES, RX Hybrid, and the ES Hybrid lead the charts for being reliable.

Following the two, Toyota is third on the list for being the most reliable car brand in the world. Models such as the RAV4, Corolla, RAV4 Prime, RAV4 Hybrid, and Corolla Hybrid top the charts. All three brands have scored over 60 points in the reliability chart.
Honda and Acura make up the fourth and fifth most reliable car brands in the world. For Honda, the HR-V, Accord, CR-V, Odyssey, and Ridgeline top the charts, while for the company’s luxury brand, Acura, models such as RDX and MDX earn the reliability ranking.
Who are at the bottom of the list?
We have seen the toppers — all Japanese. Now who makes up the bottom three of the list if you’re wondering, it’s the Americans — GMC, Cadillac and Rivian. What’s quite interesting is that none of the Germans made it to the top of the list and the only carmaker on the list is Volkswagen, in the 18th place.
The study has also mentioned that “We had insufficient data to create brand rankings for Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Infiniti, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Lucid, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Mitsubishi, Polestar, Porsche, and Ram.”
