Toyota launched the Innova Hycross in India last year. The Hycross is a departure from the previous-gen Innova Crysta which still remains around only in its diesel guise. The Innova Hycross is available with a petrol powertrain or a strong hybrid petrol powertrain.
Further, the Crysta is based on a ladder-on-frame construction with a rear-wheel drive layout. Whereas, the Hycross is based on a monocoque chassis with a front-wheel drive layout. Currently, the pure petrol-powered Hycross is available in two variants– G-SLF and GX.
Toyota Innova Hycross new variant
The Japanese auto giant will soon launch a new top-spec GX(O) trim for the pure petrol-powered Hycross. The new variant will sit between the petrol-only GX and the strong hybrid VX trims of the MPV. Toyota has listed this new variant on its official India website along with its key features.

However, the company is yet to announce prices for the same. Bookings for the new GX(O) trim can be made via the official India website at a token amount of Rs 50,000.

In comparison to the existing GX variant, the new GX (O) additionally offers bits like front LED fog lamps and rear window demister on the outside. It offers creature comforts like automatic climate control with an auto blower for the rear seat and a height-adjustable driver seat.
The new GX(O) variant will come with dual-tone fabric upholstery and soft-touch material for the dashboard. Additionally, the 7-seater option with second-row captain seats gets a bigger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay, 360-degree camera, and retractable sun shades for the rear windows. Safety package on the GX (O) trim also gets a wide rear-view parking camera with front and rear parking sensors.

Toyota Innova Hycross powertrain
Powering the new Innova Hycross GX (O) variant will be a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor delivering a peak output of 173 bhp and 209 Nm of peak torque. It comes paired with a CVT automatic transmission as standard. On the other hand, the strong hybrid variants are powered by a 2.0-litre petrol-hybrid engine producing 182 bhp. Here the motor is paired with an eCVT automatic transmission which also acts as a starter generator.
