The ‘Safari’ name carries significant importance to Tata Motors and has been in existence for many years. The original Tata Safari was launched back in 1998 and over the years, it saw many iterations, including the Safari Storme that was popular amongst enthusiasts. However, Tata killed the product and in 2021, Tata gave the Safari a radical makeover, rather re-launched the Safari brand with the current model and now, the carmaker has given the SUV its first major facelift.
The 2023 Tata Safari gets significant updates in terms of styling and equipment compared to the older version and here is a detailed look at the 2023 Tata Safari compared to the pre-facelift model.
Design

The design team at Tata Motors has been busy and they have done an impressive job in the way the new Tata vehicles look — from the facelifted Nexon to the Safari. The older vehicle had big headlights that added to the the Safari’s buch looks, however, with the update, the SUV looks more premium.
The 2023 Tata Safari gets a redesigned front end with new DRLs that run across the breadth of the SUV, along with new vertically-stacked headlights and a new grille. Towards the rear, the design language is carried on, and the tail lamps are also connected. Overall, the 2023 Safari looks sporty, and the design updates have come together well.
Interior

The interior has also seen an overhaul with a lot of design elements carried on from the Tata Curvv concept. The 2023 Safari gets a steering wheel with an illuminated logo, replacing the old steering wheel. The dash has also been redesigned, along with the central air vents that blend into the design well.
The new Tata Safari gets touch controls replacing the physical buttons and gets soft-touch materials on the dash along with colour inserts. The infotainment system is a 12.3-inch unit compared to the 10.25-inch unit in the older vehicle and the instrument console is a fully-digital unit that is customisable.

On the features and safety front, the 2023 Tata Safari gets ventilated front and second-row seats, a 10-speaker JBL sound system, and more, while getting 7 airbags and ADAS. On the whole, the 2023 Tata Safari is a well-equipped vehicle.
Engine specifications
Tata Motors has left the engine unchanged and powering the 2023 Tata Safari is a 2.-litre diesel engine that makes 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox driving the front wheels. However, an update with the drivetrain is the inclusion of paddle shifters with the 2023 Safari that the older model missed out on.
