Tata Motors has finally launched the much-awaited the CNG-powered Nexon, which was earlier showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 earlier this year. The Nexon is the only vehicle in the Indian market to offer multiple powertrain options —petrol, diesel, electric and now CNG. The Nexon squares up against its nemesis and the segment leader, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG. Here’s a spec check comparison of the two CNG compact SUVs.
Tata Nexon CNG vs Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG: Price War
As we keeping saying this time and time again, everything comes down brass tacks and the Tata Motors has launched the Nexon CNG from Rs 8.99 lakh to Rs 14.59 lakh, ex-showroom. The Tata SUV is available in predominately four variants — Smart, Pure, Creative and Fearless. The Brezza CNG, on the other hand, comes in three variants — LXI, VXI and ZXI. The Maruti Suzuki CNG SUV starts from Rs 9.29 lakh, making it around Rs 29,000 more expensive than the Nexon CNG. One also has to keep in mind that the top version of the Nexon CNG is almost Rs 2.5 lakh more expensive than the Brezza ZXI, but the Tata SUV offers plenty of premium features.Â

Tata Nexon CNG vs Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG: Engine
The Nexon is the first CNG-powered vehicle with a turbo petrol engine. It comes with a 1.2-litre with an output of 99 bhp at 5000 rpm and 170 Nm at 2000-3000 rpm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. It has a single ECU that ensures it shifts between the two fuel modes effortlessly and the SUV can directly be started in CNG mode.
The Maruti Suzuki gets a bigger 1.5-litre engine which produces 86.6 bhp at 5500 rpm and 121.5 Nm at 4200 Nm, which is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. According to Maruti Suzuki, the Brezza CNG returns a mileage of 25.51 km/kg.

Tata Nexon CNG vs Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG: Features
Tata Motors has packed the Nexon CNG with plenty of features like a panoramic sunroof, dual 10.25-inch displays including the infotainment system and instrument cluster, front ventilated seats, twin cylinder tank which translates into 5-litre additional capacity, class-leading 321-litre boot space, a 360-degree camera, 8-speaker JBL music system, connected car tech and a wireless phone charger. In terms of safety, it comes standard with 6 airbags, ESP, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps and front parking sensors.
The top-of-the-line Brezza comes with a single-panel sunroof, a 7-inch infotainment system, an analogue driver’s console, a reverse parking camera, two airbags and a 6-speaker music system. Both vehicles get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
