Tata Motors secures No.2 spot, vrooms past Hyundai again

Tata Motors clocked sales of over 50,000 units for the second consecutive month. The secret behind this success could be the Indian auto manufacturer regularly ramping up its entire range including petrol, diesel, EV and CNG.

The clash of the titans continues as Tata Motors managed to sneak ahead of Hyundai Motor India in monthly sales to become the second most successful passenger vehicle manufacturer. According to the reports shared by both automotive giants, Tata Motors’ total PV sales in the domestic market stood at 51,267 units and Hyundai recorded 50,201 units in February 2024. 

After achieving its best monthly sales figures of 53,633 units in January 2024 and Tata Motors’ year-on-year (YoY) sales have skyrocketed to 20 per cent.  On the other hand, by clocking 50,201 units in February 2024, Hyundai registered a 6.8 per cent YoY growth. 

The story is quite different regarding total sales figures as Hyundai is still comfortably ahead of Tata Motors with 60,501 units including export numbers of 10,300 units. Tata Motors managed to register a total sales number of 51,321 units.

What next for Tata Motors?

2024 will be a busy year for Tata Motors as they will soon launch the mid-size SUV coupe, the Curvv, in all-electric, petrol and diesel versions. By clocking 6,923 units of electric vehicles last month and witnessing a 30 per cent YoY growth,  the Indian car marker isn’t stepping off the pedal anytime soon. Apart from the Curvv EV, Tata Motors will also launch the much-awaited Harrier EV. Based on the vehicles showcased by Tata Motors at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024, the company has the Nexon iCNG concept, Dark Edition Nexon EV and standard Nexon and the Altroz Racer up its sleeve.
