The new Honda Amaze is the latest entrant into a segment dominated by the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. We have already seen how the two compare against each other, especially after the Dzire also got a major makeover. However, another interesting car in the segment is the Tata Tigor, which is available in multiple powertrains — petrol, CNG, and all-electric.

The Amaze gets a new 8-inch infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, a four-speaker audio system, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, and wireless charging amongst others.

The Tata Tigor gets automatic climate control, a cooled glovebox, auto wipers, powered passenger seat, a 7-inch infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, a 4-speaker audio system by Harman, USB power outlets, and more. In terms of safety, both cars are well-equipped, however, the Amaze has the advantage here. It gets 6 airbags against the Tigor’s two, while it also features ADAS, a first for a car in the segment and also making it the most affordable car in India with ADAS.

Both cars are powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a manual or a form of automatic gearbox. The Amaze gets a CVT while the Tigor gets an AMT gearbox. The Tata sedan takes it up a notch as well by allowing the Tigor’s engine to run with CNG, while the Honda Amaze sticks to just petrol. The Amaze makes slightly more power while the Tigor makes marginally more torque in its petrol form.
