MG Motor has done the unthinkable. When all automobile manufacturers have hiked the prices, MG has bowled a googly and has slashed prices across its entire portfolio. Apart from the revision of prices, the company has also launched the new ZS EV Executive variant, making it Rs 1 lakh cheaper than the ZS EV Excite.
MG Motor price revision: Comet EV
MG Motor has reduced the price of the entire Comet EV range. The entry-level Pace trim starts from Rs 6.99 lakh, a price cut of Rs 99,000. The other two versions, Play and Push, are off by Rs 1.4 lakh and are available at Rs 7.88 lakh and Rs 8.58 lakh respectively. It is not only the most affordable EV in the country but it is an electric vehicle from the ground up and is packed with features. It is powered by a 17.3 kWh battery and has an output of 41.4 bhp and 110Nm. According to MG, the Comet EV offers a driving range of 230 km on a single charge. With a 3.3kW charger, the four-seater EV takes 7.7 hours to be fully juiced and from 0 to 80 per cent in 5.5 hours. The Comet EV’s closet rival, the Tata Tiago EV, starts from Rs 8.69 lakh, ex-showroom.

MG Motor price revision: Hector
The popular SUV, the Hector, receives a marginal price reduction. The petrol version of the Hector starts at Rs 14.94 lakh making it around Rs 6,000 cheaper while the diesel gets a price cut of around Rs 80,000 and now starts from Rs 17.50 lakh, ex-showroom. The Hector is now more affordable than its direct competition the Tata Harrier, which is priced from Rs 15.49 lakh to Rs 24.49 lakh, ex-showroom. One has to keep in mind that the Harrier is only available with a 2-litre diesel engine while the Hector offers a multiple powertrain option of a 1.5-litre turbo petrol and 2-litre diesel. Both the SUVs also come equipped with an ADAS suite.

MG Motor price revision: Astor
The Astor now starts from Rs 9.98 lakh, which is a price drop of Rs 84,000. The new price makes the Astor the most affordable mid-size SUV in the market. The Astor is available in two engines — 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol with 108bhp and 144NMm and 1.3-litre turbo petrol with an output of 138bhp and 220Nm. The former motor is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT while the latter only comes with an automatic torque converter transmission.
MG Motor price revision: ZS EV
With a price drop of Rs 3.9 lakh, the ZS EV now starts from Rs 18.98 lakh, ex-showroom. MG also introduced a new entry-level trim, the ZS EV Executive. Hence, the price range of the EV is from Rs 18.98 lakh to Rs 25.09 lakh. The ZS EV is powered by a 50kWh battery with 174bhp and 280Nm. According to MG, the ZS EV offers a range of 461km on a single charge.

MG Motor price revision: Gloster
The Toyota Fortuner rival, the Gloster, receives a price drop of Rs 1.34 lakh. The MG SUV now starts from Rs 37.49 lakh to Rs 43 lakh, ex-showroom. What’s interesting to note is that the Fortuner starts from Rs 33.43 lakh making it Rs 4 lakh more affordable than the Gloster. What MG has smartly done is that the top variant of the Gloster is Rs 8 lakh cheaper than the Toyota SUV. The Gloster is powered by a 2-litre diesel with two power outputs. The turbo version churns out 158bhp and 373.5Nm while the twin turbo has an output of 212bhp and 478.5Nm. Both come standard with an 8-speed automatic transmission and are available in both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive systems.
