With competition in the mid-size SUV segment intensifying with the launch of facelifted Tata Harrier and Safari, Mahindra has decided to amplify its game by updating the XUV700. It has been reported that the Chakan-based carmaker will be introducing a host of new features to the brand’s flagship SUV very soon.

Details regarding the same were leaked on the internet recently. Apparently, brochure images of the updated XUV700 got leaked on a public forum of an online publication. The leaked brochure gives insights about the new features that will be added in the updated XUV700 which is expected to be launched in early 2024.

Mahindra XUV700 new features: Captain seats

Mahindra will be adding the option of captain seats with individual armrests in the second row. This essentially means the introduction of a six-seat layout in the XUV700. Presently, Mahindra offers the mid-size SUV in two seating layouts– five and seven. The leaked document further reveals that the second-row captain seats will come with a recline and forward/backward slide function

Captain seats in the middle-row are extremely popular among folks who like to be chauffeur driven. Most of the three-row UVs in this space offer captain seats in the middle including Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, and Toyota Innova Hycross.

Mahindra XUV700 new features: Auto dimming IRVM

The other major addition is an auto dimming internal rear view mirror (IRVM) which felt like a miss at the time of the car’s launch in 2021. The IRVM will have an on / off switch to engage or disengage the automatic dimming function. An auto-dimming IRVM ensures greater safety when driving at night.

The document states that the reflection rate on the IRVM from a vehicle behind can be automatically adjusted by simply pressing the anti-glare auto adjustment switch. While pressing the switch, the corresponding indicator comes on.

No other changes in the features or specs have been reported in the XUV700, as of now. It will likely get the same engine options– a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit and a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol unit. Both engines are offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel mill also gets the option of an all-wheel drive setup in its top-spec trim.
