Mahindra has launched the XUV 3XO at a starting price of Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes against the likes of other subcompact SUVs like Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, and Hyundai Venue. Barring Brezza, all the models mentioned above are offered with diesel and turbocharged petrol engine options.
Brezza is only offered with a single naturally aspirated petrol engine. Let us look at how the new XUV 3XO, which is essentially the XUV300 facelift, stacks up against its nearest rivals when it comes to powertrain specs.
Mahindra XUV 3XO vs rivals: Petrol engine specs
Mahindra XUV 3XO is the only SUV in its segment to offer two turbocharged petrol engine options. Sonet and Venue offer two petrol engine options each– a 1.2-litre NA unit and a 1.0-litre turbocharged unit. Nexon offers only one 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor. Brezza comes with a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine only.

The 1.2-litre mStallion TGDi turbo petrol mill churns out the highest output in the sub-4 metre SUV space of 128 bhp and 230 Nm (250 Nm in AT) of peak torque. Whereas the 1.2-litre NA petrol engines offered in Venue and Sonet push out the least output which is an identical 82 bhp and 114 Nm of peak torque.

Mahindra XUV 3XO vs rivals: Diesel engine specs
As mentioned earlier, Maruti Brezza misses out on a diesel engine. The XUV 3XO again wins this battle with the highest output churned out of its 1.5-litre oil burner, especially when it comes to torque. Otherwise, all the diesel engines in this segment are very closely matched.Â
