Global NCAP continues to test vehicles in India, and their latest is the Mahindra Bolero Neo, which managed to score a 1-star safety rating for adult and child protection. The Bolero Neo’s body was also rated unstable, while for the occupants, the lack of safety features was the main concern.
Mahindra Bolero crash test results
The findings after the crash tests indicate that the Mahindra Bolero Neo offers marginal head protection for the driver, while neck protection was good. The Bolero offered weak protection for the chest and knees for the driver, and the footwell area was rated unstable.Â
For the passenger, the Bolero Neo offered adequate chest protection, good neck protection, and marginal protection to the knees. In the side impact test, the Bolero offered adequate protection to the head, abdomen and pelvis. There was no side pole impact test conducted.
Mahindra Bolero safety features
In terms of safety, the Mahindra Bolero Neo is offered with two airbags as standard, while there are no side and curtain airbags on offer. The Bolero Neo gets ISOFIX child seat anchors, however, misses out on standard ESC, AEB, speed assist and lane assist. Even the ISOFIX anchors are available for the middle-row seats only.
Mahindra Bolero vs Tata Nexon safety

While the Mahindra Bolero Neo scored a 1-star safety rating, its closest competitor, the Tata Nexon scored 5 stars. The Nexon’s body shell is rated stable, while the driver and passenger get good head and neck protection. The driver and passenger received adequate chest protection while both received good knee protection on the frontal crash test.
The side impact test showed good protection for the head, abdomen and pelvis, while the chest received adequate protection. The side impact pole test, which was not conducted on the Mahindra Bolero, showed good protection to the head and pelvis, marginal protection to the chest and adequate protection to the abdomen.
