Kia is all set to unveil its latest offering in the Indian market called Syros on 19 December. Set to be slotted between Sonet and Seltos in Kia’s lineup, the compact SUV has been spotted on numerous occasions over the past one year. Recently, the Korean brand has teased the SUV on its social media handles on multiple instances.
While we have covered many developments regarding the Syros, the latest that we have come across is a rare feature for this segment. It has come to light that Kia will be offering reclining rear seats in Syros. This has been mentioned in a recent online report published by Autocar India.
Kia Syros: Premium rear seat experience
Kia intends to target the chauffeur-driven buyers in the compact SUV space and hence wants to offer a premium rear-seat experience. The only other SUV which offers the above feature in this space is Hyundai Venue. However, the Venue is plagued by lack of headroom, kneeroom and legroom for the rear seat occupants. As seen in teasers and spy shots, the Syros with its tallboy and upright stance doesn’t seem to lack headroom.

The report further mentions that Kia claims that the Syros will not only offer a better rear seat space than Sonet, but also when compared to the larger Seltos. We can only test this claim once we get our hands on this vehicle. Other expected premium features on Syros are LED headlights and taillights, a twin-screen dashboard setup, an electric sunroof, a 360-degree camera, automatic wipers, wireless smartphone connectivity, and a premium audio system.
Under the hood, the Syros is expected to offer two engine options: a 1.5-liter diesel and a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol. The diesel engine, shared with models like Sonet, Seltos, and Creta, produces 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. The turbo-petrol engine, found in Sonet, Venue, and Verna, delivers 118 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque.
