Tesla Cybertruck is always in the news for something or the other, but more often than not in bad news recently. This time, the all-electric pickup truck is gaining traction online thanks to Katy Perry. The American pop sensation recently brought home a Tesla Cybertruck and the internet went gaga over it.
Perry took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to announce the newest member in her garage with an image of her standing next to it. In the caption, the singer thanked Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, for delivery of the Cybertruck by tagging him. Perry isn’t the first Hollywood celebrity to grab hold of the Cybertruck.
The California Girls singer joins the likes of American socialite Kim Kardashian, talk show host Jay Leno, basketball player Anthony Edwards, and other contemporary pop stars such as Justin Beiber, Jay Z, and Lady Gaga.
Tesla Cybertruck other developments
Tesla first showcased the Cybertruck as a concept back in 2019, while production started sometime last year. The American EV manufacturer started deliveries of Cybertruck in November 2023 onwards. Since then, Tesla has delivered 3,878 units of the battery-powered pickup truck till 17 April 2024, as per data from NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration).
Tesla offers the Cybertruck in three different trims– a base-spec single-motor rear-wheel drive variant, a dual-motor, all-wheel drive all-wheel drive (AWD) variant, and a triple-motor AWD system. The all-electric pickup truck is priced between $61,000 to $100,000 (approx. INR 51 lakh to 83.33 lakh).

Despite its hype in the virtual world, Tesla Cyber Truck has faced backlash for several issues popping up in recent months. The most recent development is Tesla recalling all Cybertrucks after federal safety regulators contacted the company over malfunctions with the vehicle’s accelerator pedal. As per reports, all new orders for Cybeertruck have either been put on hold or cancelled.
The American car market is currently ruled by the Ford F150 pickup truck which is the best-selling vehicle overall in the USA. Highlights of the Cybertruck include a peak range of up to 547 km, top speeds of up to 209 kmph, and fastest 0 to 100 kmph acceleration in just 2.6 seconds.
