Hyundai Exter twin cylinder CNG launched: All you need to know

Starting from Rs 8.53 lakh (ex-showroom), the Exter CNG Duo is available in three variants including the new Exter Knight range.

Tata Motors was the first automobile manufacturer in India to revamp the CNG segment with a compact twin tank that increases the vehicle’s boot space. Hyundai has joined the party as the Exter becomes the first in its portfolio to come with a twin CNG tank. The South Korean carmaker has launched the Exter CNG Duo at Rs 8.5 lakh, ex-showroom, onwards. The new CNG variant is around Rs 7,000 more than the regular Exter CNG. Hyundai will continue to sell both the Exter CNG Duo and the Exter single-cylinder CNG models. 

Hyundai Exter CNG Duo: What’s new?

The Exter CNG Duo or as Hyundai calls it Exter Hy-CNG Duo has a CNG capacity of 60 litres. Apart from the new company-fitted dual CNG tank, Hyundai has also equipped the Exter CNG Duo with an Integrated Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to ensure the switch between the two fuels is a seamless drive experience while shifting.

Hyundai Exter CNG Duo: Engine and Features

The Exter CNG Duo continues to be powered by the tried-and-tested 1.2-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder Kappa petrol engine. It has an output of 68 bhp and 95.2 Nm of torque and is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission. 

The Exter CNG is equipped with a voice-assisted electric sunroof, LED DRLs and LED tail lamp, automatic climate control, an 8-inch infotainment system etc.  The sub-compact SUV gets 6 airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) and much more.

Hyundai Exter CNG Duo: Price

The new Exter CNG Duo is available in three variants — S, SX and Exter Knight SX. Starting from Rs 8.53 lakh, the new version is Rs 7,000 more premium than the single-cylinder CNG Exter. Hyundai will soon launch the dual-cylinder CNG tank in the Grand i10 Nios CNG and Aura CNG.
