Hyundai recently launched the twin-cylinder CNG version of Exter, a technology that was previously seen in CNG models from Tata Motors. Called the Exter Hy-CNG Duo, Hyundai has priced the same starting at Rs 8.53 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs 7,000 more than the regular Exter CNG.
Hyundai will continue to sell both the Exter CNG Duo and the Exter single-cylinder CNG models. The Exter CNG Duo boasts a robust CNG capacity of 60 litres, courtesy of its new company-fitted dual CNG tank. To ensure a smooth and seamless driving experience, Hyundai has also equipped the Exter CNG Duo with an advanced Integrated Electronic Control Unit (ECU).
This sophisticated technology enables effortless switching between fuels, providing drivers with a hassle-free and efficient ride. Units of the Exter CNG Duo have started arriving in Hyundai dealerships. The benefit of using a dual-cylinder CNG kit over the traditional single-tank CNG kit is the amount of boot space the former offers. The single-cylinder kit has barely any space to offer.

In a recent video uploaded by vlogger Sushil Nawadkar on YouTube, it shows the placement of the CNG tanks under the boot floor which relieves a generous amount of luggage space which isn’t available in the regular CNG variant. The placement of the twin CNG tanks also results in a flat boot floor. Although the exact numbers aren’t yet available, the vlogger believes around 170-180 litres of boot space is available.
With their Hy-CNG Duo kits, Hyundai is not offering a spare tyre. Instead, buyers will get a neatly packaged tyre mobility kit. This includes a tyre inflator and a sealant to repair the punctures. With Hyundai Exter Hy-CNG Duo, the company is offering an elegant CNG mobility solution with OEM warranty.
Hyundai’s Hy-CNG Duo kits come with an innovative tyre mobility kit, replacing the need for a traditional spare tyre. This compact kit includes a tyre inflator and a sealant to conveniently repair punctures. By providing this practical solution, Hyundai is offering a seamless CNG mobility experience with the Exter Hy-CNG Duo, backed by the assurance of an OEM warranty.
