Citroen launched the C3 Aircross last year but didn’t offer the option of an automatic gearbox initially. Recently, the French carmaker introduced the automatic variants of the C3 Aircross at a starting price of Rs 12.85 lakh. 

Available in two trims– Plus and Max, the latter is further divided into two versions— the 5-seater priced at Rs 13.50 lakh and the 5+2 seater at Rs 13.85 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). Let us look at how the automatic variants of the compact mid-size SUV from Citroen fares against its immediate competitors in terms of pricing.

Hyundai Creta

Hyundai Creta is by far the most popular SUV in this segment. It recently received a major facelift which witnessed plenty of changes. Creta is offered with three engine options and as many automatic gearboxes. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor is offered with a CVT unit with prices starting from Rs 15.82 lakh.

The entry-level automatic variants for the 1.5-litre diesel mill and 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol motors are priced at Rs 17.32 lakh and Rs 20.00 lakh. The most expensive automatic variant of Creta is available at Rs 20.15 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

Kia Seltos

Kia launched the facelifted Seltos last year and it gets the same set of engines as its cousin– Hyundai Creta. That said, the entry-level variant of a Seltos automatic is priced at Rs 16.60 lakh which is the highest in its category. The most expensive automatic variant of Seltos is the top-spec 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox priced at Rs 20.30 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

Maruti Grand Vitara

Prices for the automatic variants of Maruti Grand Vitara start at Rs 13.60 lakh (ex-showroom) for the non-hybrid 1.5-litre NA petrol-powered Delta variant. The most expensive automatic variant of Grand Vitara at Rs 18.33 lakh and Rs 18.49 lakh (both ex-showroom) for the Zeta Plus CVT hybrid trim (single-tone and dual-tone, respectively).

MG Motor offers the Astor with two engine options paired with one manual and two gearboxes. The most affordable automatic Astor is the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol- powered Select trim available with a CVT gearbox, priced at Rs 13.98 lakh (ex-showroom). The most expensive automatic Astor is the Svvy Pro Sangria trim with a 6-speed torque converter gearbox.

Volkswagen Taigun

Volkswagen Taigun is powered either by a 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine or a 1.5-litre TSI turbocharged petrol unit which are available with their respective 6-speed torque converter and 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox options, along with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. Base price of the Taigun automatic is Rs 15.43 lakh whereas the top-end price of a Taigun automatic variant is Rs 19.74 lakh (both ex-showroom).

Skoda Kushaq

Skoda Kushaq gets the same engine and gearbox combinations as VW Taigun, hence prices are similar. Prices for Kushaq automatic variants start from Rs 15.49 lakh and go up to Rs 20.49 lakh (both ex-showroom).
