BMW is set to launch the second generation of 2 Series Gran Coupe in India on 17 July 2025. Ahead of its launch, the German marque has started accepting bookings for the entry-level luxury sedan in India. Initially, the second-gen 2 Series Gran Coupe will only be available in the 218 Gran Coupe variant.
To be locally assembled at BMW’s Chennai-based facility, the new-gen 2 Series Gran Coupe is available for bookings at the brand’s authorised dealerships and the official website. The second-gen 2 Series is underpinned by the same UKL2 platform as its predecessor. The outgoing model is priced between Rs. 44.40 and 47.40 lakh (ex-showroom).
2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Exterior & Dimensions
As compared to its predecessor, the new sedan features a more aggressive design with sleeker adaptive LED headlights and an illuminated kidney grille. Since the 218i Gran Coupe is offered exclusively in the M Sport trim in India, it comes with sportier bumpers showcasing sharp contours and blacked-out accents. Standard equipment includes stylish 18-inch dual-tone multi-spoke alloy wheels.

In terms of dimensions, the new 2 Series Gran Coupe retains the same 2,670mm wheelbase and 1,800mm width as before, but it has grown overall. The length has increased by 20mm to 4,546mm, while the height is up by 25mm to 1,445mm. Boot space remains generous, now rated at 430 litres.
2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Interiors & Features
Inside the cabin, the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe comes equipped with the M Sport package as standard, featuring the brand’s signature minimalist interior design with minimal physical buttons. Taking centre stage is the curved glass panel that seamlessly integrates a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, both angled towards the driver and powered by BMW’s latest OS9 operating system.
The seats and door trims are finished in a rich dark mocha brown upholstery, with lighter colour options available. Standard features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, automatic parking, an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite, and a digital key that enables remote access to essential functions like locking/unlocking, cabin pre-conditioning, and boot operation.
2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Powertrain
Initially, the new 2 Series Gran Coupe will only be a petrol-powered offering. The entry-level luxury sedan will derive its power from a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that kicks out 154 bhp and 230 Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. With this new model, BMW has gone down on size and output of the engine. The outgoing model was powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that dished out 188 bhp.
