Nissan is gearing up to launch the X-Trail in India later this month. The Japanese brand has started teasing the upcoming SUV on its social media platforms. In its fourth generation currently, the X-Trail will be brought to India as a fully-imported CBU model. Ahead of its launch, we compile 5 highlights of the Nissan X-Trail in India.
1. Nissan X-Trail design
Like the international-spec model, the X-Trail gets the signature V-motion grille up front with plenty of bling going around for itself. Nissan has ditched the curvaceous design of the third-gen model for a slightly boxier silhouette. Up front, it gets split LED lighting with sleek inverted L-shaped LED DRLs while at the rear it flaunts L-shaped LED taillamps.

Other visual highlights include door claddings, rear wiper and washer integrated spoiler with a top-mounted stop lamp, shark-fin antenna, and dual-tone alloy wheels.
2. Nissan X-Trail powertrain
Internationally, the X-Trail gets three engine options: a 1.5-liter turbo mild-hybrid petrol, a stronger 1.5-liter turbo full hybrid, and a version of the full hybrid with all-wheel drive. The India-specific model is expected to get the 1.5-liter turbo mild-hybrid petrol engine, producing around 161 bhp. There’s no official confirmation on the exact power output yet. An 8-speed CVT automatic gearbox is likely to be paired with this engine. AWD configuration might be offered, but there’s no official confirmation on that either.

3. Nissan X-Trail features
Nissan recently teased a video of X-Trail’s interiors which highlighted features such as large freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, a fully-digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, electric parking brake with auto-hold function, drive modes, cup holders in the centre console, and wireless smartphone charging. Available in both five- and seven-seat layouts, the India-spec X-Trail is expected to come with the latter.
4. Nissan X-Trail colour options
In a recent virtual roundtable conference with the Indian media, Alfonso Albaisa, SVP Nissan Design revealed that the India-spec Nissan X-Trail will be sold with three colour options including Diamond Black, Champagne Silver and Solid White.
5. Nissan X-Trail rivals & price
When launched, Nissan X-Trail is expected to lock horns with premium C-segment SUVs like Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tigaun. Although being a CBU, it will be a more competent rival to the likes pof Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian in terms of pricing. We expect it to be priced between Rs 40–50 lakh (ex-showroom).
