Bajaj Auto has an early mover advantage in the two-wheeler CNG segment, but the competition is gearing up to soon join the party. Reports suggest that TVS is burning the midnight oil and testing the CNG-powered Jupiter scooter. At the moment, no timeline has been revealed by the company. Till we get a confirmation, we delve into the best-selling scooter in the market, the Honda Activa, and how it fares against the recently launched Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG.
Bajaj Freedom 125 vs Honda Activa 125: Engine Specifications
The bi-fuel Freedom 125 runs on both CNG and petrol. The CNG motorcycle has a CNG capacity of 2 kilograms and 2 litres of petrol. The Freedom 125 has an output of 9.3 bhp and 9.7 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. According to ARAI, the motorcycle returns an average of 101 km/kg and 65 kmpl in petrol. Bajaj claims that this translates into around 200 km in CNG mode and 130 km in petrol mode.

The Honda Activa is powered by a 124 cc with an output of 8.1 bhp and 10.4 Nm of torque. It is only available with a CVT automatic transmission. The mileage claimed by ARAI is 65 kmpl. The Activa 125 has a fuel tank capacity of 5.3 litres.

Bajaj Freedom 125 vs Honda Activa 125: Features
The Freedom is a long motorcycle as it is based on a 1340mm wheelbase. It is a tall motorcycle as the seat height is 825 mm and 785 mm for the seat length. The Freedom 125 is available in three variants starting from the NG04 Drum which gets 130 mm drum brakes in front and 110 mm in the rear. The mid-variant, NG04 Drum LED, retains the same from brakes but gets bigger 130 mm drum brakes in the rear. The top model, NG04 Disc LED, is equipped with a 240 mm front disc brake and a 130 mm drum at the rear. It comes standard with an LCD digital display, while the top model also comes with Bluetooth connectivity to pair your mobile phone.

The Activa 125 has a 1260 mm wheelbase, a seat length of 712 mm and a ground clearance of 162 mm. The Honda scooter is available in four variants with the Activa 125 Drum equipped with 130 mm drum brakes in front and in the rear. The Activa 125 Drum Alloy sports alloy wheels with 12 inches in front and 10 inches at the rear. The Activa 125 Disc trim gets a 190 mm front disc brake. The top-of-the-line Activa 125 H-Smart offers plenty of features with a smart key system that incorporates Smart Find, Smart Unlock, Smart Start and Smart Safe features. It also has an immobilizer that prevents a non-registered key from starting the engine. Honda has updated its instrument cluster as well and the MID on the dash now shows total trip, clock, Eco indicator and other fuel efficiency-related information. The LCD instrument cluster reads out real-time mileage, distance to empty and average fuel economy.
