Bajaj created ripples in the global automotive industry by launching the world’s first CNG-powered two-wheeler earlier this month. The Freedom 125 is going to be the first of many CNG bikes from Bajaj and a landmark for the Chakan-based automaker. Available in three variants, prices for the Freedom 125 start at Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom).
Bajaj has now announced that the CNG motorcycle will be available across 77 centres in India ahead of the country’s upcoming Independence Day. This year, India will step into its 77th year of independence on August 15, hence the number chosen. Bajaj claims that over 30,000 inquiries for the Freedom 125 in the first week since its launch.

Freedom 125 comes with a 2 kg CNG tank underneath the seat and a 2-litre auxiliary petrol tank, offering a combined range of 330 km on full tanks. The Freedom 125 claims to offer consumers up to 50% lower operating costs compared to similar petrol motorcycles. Its advanced safety features include an integrated CNG tank, nestled within a trellis frame, The Freedom 125 features mono-linked suspensions, a long-quilted seat, LED headlamps, digital speedometers, and Bluetooth connectivity. The CNG tank and kit are securely housed and rigorously tested for safety.
Speaking about the wider launch of Freedom 125, Sarang Kanade, President Motorcycles, Bajaj Auto Ltd., shared, ” To celebrate our nation’s 77th Independence Day, we’re expanding availability to 77 towns. The waiting period Freedom 125 varies from place to place. A recent report mentioned that the waiting period of the CNG bike in Mumbai varies from 20 to 30 days. In Pune, it extends from 30 to 45 days, while in Gujarat, it can be further extended from 45 days up to three months.
