Shares of Wipro declined over 4 per cent to Rs 448.40, emerging as the biggest loser among the Sensex stocks, as the IT major’s second-quarter results disappointed investors.
Wipro plunged 4.54 per cent on the BSE, to end the day at Rs 448.40. During the session, the scrip lost 5.43 per cent, to touch an intra-day low of Rs 444.20.
The IT major posted a 9.75 per cent increase in its consolidated net profit at Rs 1,284.9 crore.
According to marketmen, the not-so-impressive second quarter numbers hurt the company’s shares. Also, the firm’s larger rivals TCS and Infosys posted better quarter results.
Meanwhile, shares of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) hit an-all time high of Rs 1,049.90 on Friday, and ended the day 5.72 per cent higher, at Rs 1,040.10. The rally was on the back of the company’s robust second-quarter results.
On Thursday, TCS posted a jump of 32 per cent in net profit at Rs 2,169.21 crore for the September quarter.
TCS, the country’s largest software exporter, was also the biggest gainer among the Sensex pack.
Infosys Technologies marginally rose to Rs 3,053.25, up 0.66 per cent, while HCL Technologies dropped 1.37 per cent to Rs 417.60
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex ended the trade at 20,165.86, down by 94.72 points.
