Welspun Energy said Wednesday it has commissioned Asia?s largest solar project, with a generation capacity of 55 mw, in the Jodhpur district of Rajasthan. The solar farm, which was completed ahead of schedule and took just five months, was dedicated to the nation by Union new and renewable energy minister Farooq Abdullah. The project can light 2.5 lakh homes and reduce carbon emissions by 83,220 tonne annually, the company claimed in a statement.

AirAsia announces 20% discount on base fare

Malaysian airline AirAsia has announced a 20% discount on the base fare of all AirAsia and AirAsia X flights when booked online, or through AirAsia Travel Shops, from August 25, for travelling between August 27 and December 11. The 20% discount is applicable to the base fare of all AirAsia flights with the flight codes AK (Malaysia AirAsia), FD (Thai AirAsia), QZ (AirAsia Indonesia), PQ (Philippines’ AirAsia) and D7 (AirAsia X). The discount is also applicable when a customer books the Fly-Thru service.

Zydus Cadila gets USFDA nod for anti-ulcer drug

Zydus Cadila has received the final approval from the USFDA to market Lansoprazole DR capsules in different strengths of 15 mg and 30 mg. The drug falls in the anti-ulcerant segment. The estimated sales in 2012 as

per IMS for Lansoprazole DR capsules was $501 million.

Tech Mahindra seeks transfer of Satyam SEZs

Tech Mahindra, which merged Mahindra Satyam (Satyam Computer Services) with itself a few months ago, is in the process of transferring three special economic zones that were allotted to the latter before the merger. According to a department notification, Tech Mahindra has approached the Board of Approvals (BoA) under the Department of Commerce for transferring rights of three SEZs (one in Tamil Nadu and two in Andhra Pradesh) and the proposal will come up for a discussion before the BoA on August 30.

IOC to invest R8,000 cr in Koyali refinery expansion

State-owned Indian Oil Corp (IOC) will invest about R8,000 crore to expand capacity at its Koyali oil refinery in Gujarat to 18 million tonne per annum by 2016-17. The expansion from 13.7 million tonne will ?lead to improvement in distillate yield, thereby enabling production of ore value-added products from the refinery,? a company statement quoted Gujarat Refinery executive director Gautam Roy as saying.

Tata Steel bags PM award for best integrated plant

Tata Steel has been adjudged the best-performing integrated steel plant in the country for 2011-12 based on the recommendations made by a panel of judges that selected companies for the Prime Minister?s trophy awards for the year. The steel major would, as per the PM?s trophy award scheme, receive a ?certificate of excellence? for 2011-12 from the ministry of steel. With this, Tata Steel has scored the maximum marks in overall performance for the fourth consecutive year.

Infosys gets ?Platinum? rating in building design

IT major Infosys on Wednesday said that it has been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) India ?Platinum? rating, the highest ranking given for sustainable building design by the Indian Green Building Council, for its Software Development Block in Mangalore and Mysore. The IT firm now has seven buildings with ?Platinum? rating. The LEED Green Building Rating System is a global benchmark for design, construction and operation of green buildings.
