Leading oral care company Colgate-Palmolive posted an 11.8% jump in net profit to Rs 100 crore for the quarter ended September 30 on the back of robust sales growth in the toothpaste category. The company had registered a net profit of Rs 89.7 crore in the same period last fiscal. Net sales of the company during the quarter stood at Rs 551.77 crore, a 13% increase from Rs 487.26 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

United Spirits Q2 profit up 7% at Rs 74.6 crore

United Spirits reported a 7% increase in net profit to Rs 74.6 crore in the quarter ended September 30 backed by growth in top-end brands and price increases in various markets.

Revenue grew 25.5% to Rs 1,365.5 crore compared to Rs 1,087.5 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The company said that its sales of 26.6 million cases during the quarter, traditionally the weakest of the four quarters, were higher by 3.7 million cases or an increase of 16% compared to the corresponding quarter last year.

GlaxoSmithKline Q3 profit increases 11.85%

GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals said its net profit rose by 11.85 % to Rs 157.81 crore for the third quarter ended September 30, on the back of robust sales in both vaccines and new products launches. The company had a net profit of Rs 141.08 crore in the same period last fiscal. The company’s net sales for the Q3 rose to Rs 581.98 crore compared to Rs 511.81 crore in the same period previous fiscal.

Firstsource Solutions Q2 profit surges 14%

Firstsource Solutions said its consolidated net profit rose by nearly 14% in its consolidated net profit at Rs 33 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2010, over the same period last year. Revenues from operations rose to Rs 503.5 crore during the July-September quarter against Rs 488.7 crore in the same period last year, the company said.

Sun TV Network Q2 revenue soars 33%

Sun TV Network on Thursday said its net profit rose by 28.25% to Rs 167.44 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2010, against Rs 130.56 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal. Net revenue rose 33% to Rs 424.78 crore during the period under review against Rs 320.39 crore in the same period last year.

Demand helps Hexaware post Rs 42-cr profit

A pick-up in demand and stable prices, backed by 15% growth of its top 10 clients, helped IT-major Hexaware clock a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 42 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2010. The company posted a PAT of Rs 41.3 crore in the same period last year and Rs 14.4 crore in the April-June, 2010, quarter. The company’s revenue in July-September period grew to Rs 281 crore, up 7%, against Rs 263.2 crore in the year-ago period.

Genpact Q3 net profit increases 21.4%

Genpact, the country’s largest BPO reported a rise of 21.4 % in net income to $40.1 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2010, as compared to $ 33.1 million in the same quarter a year ago. The company’s revenues rose to $321.6 million in the July-September quarter of the year, upgrading from $ 284.4 million in quarter ended September 30, 2009. Genpact also generated $ 68 million of cash from operations in the third quarter of 2010, up from $55.7 million of cash from operations in the third quarter of 2009.
