For GT skipper Hardik Pandya, this was a battle of nerves. Defending his title, Pandya faced CSK once again. Interestingly, GT had defeated CSK in the IPL 2023 opener on March 31st.
What a wonderful season it was!
“Would've bowled first as well, but my heart wanted to bat so I don't mind losing the toss. We spoke that it is something out of our control (weather). Whichever team plays better will have their hands on the trophy. I like keeping the boys cool, and they repay me. It's a flat track (what he makes of the pitch?). Same team,” Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya said at the time of the toss.
Gujarat Titans lost their first wicket – Shubman Gill 39 (20) st MS Dhoni b Ravindra Jadeja. Gujarat Titans 67/1.
“We'll bowl first with the rain forecast being around. Yesterday we were in the dressing room. As a cricketer, you always want to play. It was the crowd that suffered the most. Hopefully, we can entertain them. The pitch has been undercover for a long time, but throughout the tournament, the pitch has behaved well over here. Quite happy it will be a 20-over game we'll be playing. Serves justice to the tournament like this. Same team,” CSK captain MS Dhoni said at the time of the toss.
Gujarat Titans are at 40 for no loss. Five 4s, one 6 till now. Saha 22(15), Gill 19 (11).
Chennai will be looking to clinch a 5th IPL title while defending champion Gujarat Titans will look to become the second team to win back-to-back IPL titles.

There is a forecast of a thunderstorm around 5PM in Ahmedabad. However, it is not exopected to continue for long. As of now, there is no such forecast of drizzle during the match hours or after 7:30 PM. Therefore, there are chances of a 20-20 over match.

The final match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will take place today at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. The match will begin at 07:30 PM.
The defending champions Gujarat Titans had topped the points table after the 70-match league round, finishing as the only team to have won 10 out of 14 matches and 20 points. Chennai Super Kings had finished second with 17 points. (PTI)
As per the rules, if the IPL final is affected by rains or washed out on the day of the match, the game can be played on the next day which is treated as a reserve day. But if the reserved day is also affected by weather conditions or is washed out, the team which ends at the first position after the league round, wins the title. (PTI)
This is for the first time in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) that the summit has moved to a reserve day today. This was announced by the IPL on Twitter at 11 PM last night.
As of now, there is no possibility of rains in Ahmedabad, which means that there is full possibility of a 20-20 over match. On Sunday, the final of the Indian Premier League 2023 was moved to the reserved day after relentless rains delayed the toss and subsequently the start of the summit showdown.
If the weather remains the same , there’s a possibility of a 5-over per contest. Even if that does not happen, A Super Over can take place. In the most unlikely situation, the team at the top of the league table will be declared the winner.
After constant downpour for over three hours, the umpires and other IPL officials have decided to call off the match today. There was no point in looking for a 5 pver/side match after midnight. So, as rains continue, the IPL 2023 finale between CSK and GT will be played on Monday, May 29, 2023.
It's craze that is unparalleled and only a true fane can understand it. yest, today's final has been hit by rain but that doesn't stop our love for IPL. Check out these stunning images from Motera today
Nitin Mohan and Rod Tucker say that they will try to push the game as much as possible. So, a possibility of a 5 over/side match is not ruled out. This is because, according to Tucker, the ground staff need 60 minutes to prepare the pitch and outfield ready for the game. In case that rains stop by 11, the match will begin by 12. Or, as many are hoping now, it will be a full match that will be played tomorrow.
Yes, what looked like distant possibility is becoming a reality. The rain-hit match, if played right now, will see 15 overs per side. Even then, nobody is sure whether the rains will start again. So, in all likelihood, the full match will be played tomorrow.
