Indian equity benchmarks closed Wednesday’s trade in the red, recovering major intra-day losses. The Nifty 50 ended the day 46 points or 0.18% lower at 25,986, while the BSE Sensex declined 31 points or 0.04% to end at 85,107.

The Nifty Bank settled 75 points or 0.13% higher at 59,348. The small-cap and mid-cap stocks closed the trade on a lower note. The BSE Midcap finished 444 points or 0.95% lower at 46,612. The BSE Smallcap finished 220 points or 0.43% lower at 51,602.

Indices in intraday trade

The indices closed the trade on a lower note. During the session, out of 3,213 trading stocks, 1,052 advanced, while 2,074 declined, and 87 remained unchanged. Today, 28 stocks hit a fresh 52-week high. Meanwhile, 228 stocks touched a new 52-week low. 

Top gainers 

Wipro was the top gainer in the Nifty 50 in Wednesday’s session, closing 16% higher. It was followed by Hindalco Industries, TCS, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Bank. 

Top losers

Max Healthcare Institute’s shares were the biggest losers in today’s trade, declining 2.9%. It was followed by Tata Consumer Products, Adani Enterprises, Bharat Electronics, and Shriram Finance were the only losers.
