WB, West Bengal Election Results 2024 Lok Sabha Highlights: The Mamata Banerjee ‘magic’ worked yet again for the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal even as the party romped home with 29 of the 42 parliamentary constituencies in the state, reducing the BJP to 12, six seats less than its previous count. Counting of votes took place on June 4, 2024 for the 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal across 55 centres in the state. The state, which went to polls in seven phases in the Lok Sabha elections, has the third-highest number of constituencies at 42. Although a part of the Opposition INDIA bloc, the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC has decided to contest the Lok Sabha elections in the state alone, thereby paving way for a three-cornered contest between the NDA, INDIA coalition and the TMC.

Polling for the sixth phase of West Bengal elections was held on May 25. These are the constituencies that went to polls:

Seven constituencies went to polls during the fifth phase of polls. The polling took place on May 20. They are: Bangaon, Barrackpur, Howrah, Uluberia, Sreerampur, Hooghly and Arambag.
The fourth phase of polling was held on May 13. Eight constituencies – Baharampur, Krishnanagar, Ranaghat, Bardhaman – Purba, Bardhaman – Durgapur, Asansol, Bolpur, Birbhum – went to polls in Phase 4
The third phase of polling was held on May 7. These are the constituencies which went to polls in Phase 3: Maldaha Uttar, Maldaha Dakshin, Jangipur, Murshidabad
These are the constituencies which went to polls in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal that was held on April 26. These are: Darjeeling, Raiganj, Balurghat

The seventh and last phase of Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal saw a voter turnout of 76.80 per cent. Diamond Harbour constituency, from where Abhishek Banerjee is contesting as a TMC candidate, saw a turnout of 81.04 per cent.
During the seventh and final phase of polling for the nine Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal, a turnout of 76.80 percent was recorded. The turnout was lower than that recorded during the 2019 general election (78.51 percent) and the 2021 assembly election (79 percent). The polling for the seventh phase took place on June 1 from 7 am to 6 pm.
The seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal covered Dum Dum, Barasat, Basirhat, Jayanagar, Mathurapur, Diamond Harbour, Jadavpur, Kolkata Dakshin, and Kolkata Uttar constituencies. These areas saw victories for the TMC in the 2019 elections.

Following a marathon seven-phase election, beginning April 19, the counting of votes in West Bengal will take place from 8 AM onwards. Postal ballots will be counted first, following by the EVMs. Leads will start trickling in as soon as counting begins.
