Lok Sabha Election 2024, Telangana Results 2024 Highlights: The counting for all 17 seats has been concluded, revealing a very close battle between BJP and Congress. BJP won 8 seats, Congress also won 8 seats, and AIMIM secured 1 seat.
BJP candidates emerged victorious in the Adilabad (ST), Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Medak, Secunderabad, Malkajgiri, Chevella, and Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha seats. Congress nominees won from Peddapalle (SC), Mahabubabad (ST), Warangal (SC), Bhongir, Khammam, Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool (SC), and Zaheerabad.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has retained the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat for the fifth consecutive time. In the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, he secured a lead of 3,38,087 votes over BJP’s K. Madhavi Latha.

Following setbacks in the assembly polls under former state chief Bandi Sanjay, the BJP has ramped up its national campaign to secure a third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Unlike in 2014, when Telangana largely supported the BRS, the BJP now aims to win double-digit seats in the state.
Chief Minister Reddy, who led the Congress to success in the December assembly elections, now aims to enhance his party’s representation in the Lok Sabha, currently standing at three seats.
In Telangana, the Congress, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, continues to be a major political player, competing against opponents like the TRS and BJP. This election, the BJP has formed an alliance with Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP and Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party (JSP).
According to the News18 exit poll, out of the 17 seats in Telangana, the NDA is predicted to win between 7 to 10 seats. The INDIA alliance is expected to secure 5 to 8 seats, while other parties may win 3 to 5 seats. The NDA is expected to get about 37 percent of the votes, the INDIA alliance about 34 percent, and other parties about 29 percent.
As of Sunday (June 2), Hyderabad no longer serves as the shared capital of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, following the guidelines outlined in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014. From June 2 onwards, Hyderabad, a vibrant metropolitan hub, will exclusively function as the capital of Telangana.
The counting of votes will commence in a few hours. The Election Commission will begin the counting from 8:00 am on June 4.

In the 2019 general elections, the BRS was the strongest party in Telangana, where it won nine out of 17 seats. The BJP came in second with four seats, and the Congress was close behind with three seats. The last seat, Hyderabad, remained a stronghold for AIMIM.
Malkajgiri: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy won this seat for Congress in the 2019 elections, beating BRS candidate Rajashekar Reddy Marri by over 10,000 votes. This time, Congress will be represented by Patnam Suneetha Mahender Reddy, who recently switched from BRS to Congress. The BJP has chosen Etela Rajender, who also left BRS and joined the BJP in 2021.
In the last three general elections, three different parties have won this seat: Congress in 2009, BRS in 2014, and BJP in 2019. In the last election, BJP’s Bandi Sanjay Kumar defeated BRS’ B. Vinod Kumar by over 89,000 votes. Karimnagar is a key constituency in Telangana, and this time the same two candidates will compete again. Congress has not yet announced its candidate for this seat.
Khammam is one of the most important constituencies in Telangana. It got a lot of attention when the state Congress leaders asked Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and then later, Priyanka Gandhi to contest from there. While none of them agreed, the seat went on to become the most sought-after. The Congress party then put forth Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy as their candidate while the sitting MP Nama Nageswara Rao has nominated by the BRS party. The BJP, aiming to broaden its influence in the region, has nominated Tandra Vinod Rao.
Secunderabad: The BJP has selected current MP G Kishan Reddy to run for a third term in Secunderabad. The BRS has chosen T Padma Rao Goud as their candidate, and the Congress has picked Danam Nagender.

Secunderabad: The BJP has selected current MP G Kishan Reddy to run for a third term in Secunderabad. The BRS has chosen T Padma Rao Goud as their candidate, and the Congress has picked Danam Nagender.
The BJP has chosen classical dancer and entrepreneur Madhavi Latha to contest against current MP and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi in Hyderabad. This area, known for its large Muslim population, has long been controlled by the AIMIM party. Owaisi has been the MP since 2004, succeeding his father, Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, who held the seat from 1984 to 2004.
All eyes are set on these key constituencies of Telangana – Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Nizamabad, Khammam, Karimnagar, and Malkajgiri.

Khammam is a key constituency in Telangana that gained attention when Congress leaders invited Sonia, Rahul, and Priyanka Gandhi to contest there. Although they declined, the seat became highly sought-after. Congress nominated Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy, while BRS chose the current MP, Nama Nageswara Rao. The BJP, looking to expand its influence, nominated Tandra Vinod Rao.
Owaisi won the Hyderabad seat in the 2019 elections by more than 280,000 votes, securing about 64% of the total votes.
The BJP has for the first time pitched a women candidate from the Hyderabad seat which has been the stronghold for AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi for four terms. She took lead in the campaign against instant triple talaq, which was made illegal by Parliament in 2019. Owaisi has strongly opposed this law, calling it “one of many attacks on Muslim identity and citizenship.” Latha has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Nizam College and a Master’s degree in Political Science from Osmania University.
In the 2019 general elections, the BRS was the dominant party in Telangana, winning nine out of 17 seats. The BJP secured four seats, coming in second, while the Congress followed closely with three seats. The remaining seat, Hyderabad, continued to be a stronghold for AIMIM.
EVM counting is scheduled to commence at approximately 8:00 am, with initial trends anticipated to emerge around 8:30 am.
